Went the wrong way....

Yep, I've just finished a fantastic ride that lasted 1/2 day going through an incredible steep gorge , booked into a hotel to catch up with my blog and try and reconnect with one of my riding mates since we got separated in Quito in Ecuador. However I've just found out that I'm about 190k's east of where I should be........ F-----!!!!!
So there you have it and also the Internet is going down so thought I'd post this before trying to get back on track.
Photos will follow........sometime.

Colombia

Spent alot of time talking to these guys, and it feels so very safe having them around
Got into a lovely little village at the base of a 28 k/m ride down a knife edge ridge with valley both sides, will never forget this ride as it was on good tar Matt for the throttle was busy.....

it's one of the oldest places in Colombia and settled by the Spanish so has that amazing feel about it, wish we had spent more time there but due to running out of light we had to get to Medellin before it got to dark
So it's day 3 here now and we all agree that out of our travels so far this country is one that I'd love to return and re visit. I think Colombia is very misunderstood and while it is dangerous if you choose to run drugs or guns, it is like any other country that if you ask for trouble you'll get it.Every one we have meet there has been the most friendly we've ever meet and the most helpful. It will truly be a sad day to leave this fantastic country.....

just photos

Colombia

As we left the flats and headed to the mountains it was obvious we were in for not only a long day but a spectacular one also

This road was very rough and tough going with pot wholes and large sections washed away so you had to stay on top of you game at all times but the scenery was hard not to look at all the time

Then at the top of the pass which was 7000ft we talked to our last out post of military which always waved to us every time with smiles from ear to ear. These guys where very friendly until we took their picture so I decided they just needed to look tough fro the camera, but they were amazing.....

Turbo

While there was not much to Turbo, it sure was nice to be in and officially in Colombia
It quickly become plain to see that we we're quite the talk of the town and where jumped on as soon as we stopped. Everybody was very talkative and again very friendly with huge smiles as soon as you smiled at them and said hello.

It did get the point where we tryed to almost hide for a little while just to get a breather
Very cool little buses used to transport people around and also an indication of the terrain we where about to travel over the next day

The place functioned on scooters and bikes under 250cc so our ones where quite the talk.

still on the sea

,We get to the last post to check out of Panama and was told that we could go to a Cargo dock called Turbo. Now this will save us 1-2 days sailing also 2 days ride so after a talk we deiced to get our selves off this boat asap and go for it.
11 hours later arrive in the dark just off the port and decide to go in the morning....

However we are told by the Marine/army that nobody ever has unloaded here and not with bikes as well...... actually lucky we didn't get fire on in the process....... however

they all turned around and said we'll see what we can do. Now this is the first time in Colombia and before we know the military are helping us unload, the customs/immigration leave their office and come out to process us in and this is all done with so many smiles and helpfulness that it blew us all away.

At the end of it, it was the first time this has ever happened and our entry to Colombia was to be both memorable and a share pleasure. Also a bench mark of what was to take place for our whole stay while in this fantastic scenic and the most friendly country I have yet had the pleasure to visit....... but we where happy to see the end of the sail boat and it's Captain......

Panama 2

Had some weather just about all the way with seas that weren't big but enough for you not to have much of an appitite...
Our Captain 'Doug" who like his rum every day.... morning, mid day and evening.

The bikes traveled well and other than getting sea water on them, all was good
