Time for maintance

At least it's a great place to get up on some maintenance. I haven't had to do much but it is good to take the time and go over everything
and of course with Cath coming in today I need to re rig the bike for being 2 up and get prepared to change my riding style
We will stay here for a few days then it'll be back on the road. I've been here for 4 days now and very ready to hit the road again. These guys have been great and given me free rein on this place but boy do I ever miss the road again already.
Waiting for Cath to get here then we'll get our stuff together and see how it all fits together, same adventure just with a little twist......... till later....

Finally in Lima...now get me out

Images are back to front but this is the view off the deck of our rafting mate Bill Black who has a beach house on the coast just south of Lima. So it is a great place to hang out waiting for Cath to get in.
they also rent a place in town but come out to here in weekend and when they need space.... me I havn't gone back into Lima, 10 million is just to much for this old boy

This was the approch to Lima and after riding for hours it was very hard to stay focused but plaesed to be down with this section
Bloody pleased I put those spots on so at least I could increase my chances for being seen

Peru....

Ok so finally back to an Internet. In Northern Peru the riding was good as was the scenery...
However for every turn and indeed every straight and somewhere there has been some kind of dwelling you get this dumped on the side of the road. It really is very dis hearting to always be surrounded in this kind of human waste that they have no problem dumping anywhere and indeed everywhere.
The roads really do straighten up here so thanks to my new found friend Keith, here is his cruise control which works great. Nothing more than a piece of rubber that flicks over the throttle you then set it to the speed you want and turn up the tunes.....
"cause as you get further down the road the winds pick up to about 40-50 k's and all you can do is lean and hang on. This is all in the desert so the sand is fierce...

Finally in Peru

Suddenly come out into the flats and pasture land.
This was the access between Ecuador and Peru. it does not come close to the real feel of it as it was jammed pack and it's considered the no mans land between the countries

Just another view of a another village just before the crossing
Now in Peru, but with no money. Just enough for a room, 2 minute noodles on my stove and 2 very large bottles of beer but also Fi Wi access so it is happiness filled. Isn't amazing how little we need to be happy sometimes and it's the little things that make the difference.
Well folks I'm caught up, and now I can hear the sea from my room it's time to put this ass to bed, since it was a 700 k day today I think it deserves some horizontal action.....

Alone once again.....

So after waiting at the high point (which was at 9oooft) of leaving Quito before it drops into the valleys, I waited for about 2 hours in the hope that I would hook back up with Keith. However this was not to happen today and since it was getting late I decide to take off before I ran out of day light
The road was still the Pan/America high way and as it dropped into the valleys it was getting tighter all the time. However it just continued to do this for the next 68 k's and dropped to almost sea level by the time it got out of the valley. It has to be the most amazing piece of roading I've ever seen and was packed with trucks and buses all fighting for position, and me and dam it I fought back big tome and held my own.....

However at the end of it all some how I manged to get off the highway and this road took me about 170 k's to the West and before I realized it was way to late ....... but hey did I ever get to play in the mountains!!!!

Seperation City

Well these are back to front but this is one of the last photos I took just moments before the 3 of us got seperated by a very large protest right in the middle of a town in Ecuador called Quite. This is where Ron is going to spend the next few days and Keith and I where carrying on the Peru. However we got seperated and I havn't been able to tie in with keith as yet
last time I saw Keith before we got seperated...

Just more great riding
In amazing back drop, it just keeps getting better, little did I know that there was much more awaiting little old me.....

The breaking up ofthe crew....

As we left we knew that today we where going to start the splitting up of the4 of us. The 1st to go was Fernando who was returning to his home town Bogota. It had been a real treat to have him as he arrange the sail boat in desperation to get going and you couldn't ask for a better host in his own country. he represented what we all agreed was the common thread in the Colombians and thats thay there are so very proud and take pride in their own country.... and they have every right to do so. We all would like to return to this fantastic country.
The 4 misfits, amazing that we where all thrown together at Panama andyet by the end of the short journey we are all very good mates. Keith from UK, Ron fron Texas, Fernando and of course myself......

Medellin- Colombia

Theses photos are from leaving Medellin which was a great place to spend 2 days in. We all had stuff to do to our bikes, which included Ron having to get his panniers straighten out after being t-boned by another bike.... very surprised it hasn't happened to all of us after riding in these cities.
The riding has been great with alot of open road then little hits like this between villages
Med. is a huge city with over 7 million poeple in, far to many for this country folk but would love to go back here. We where all blown away with just how friendly everyone was to us and went out of their way to make our stay what it was
Packed up and ready to hit the road yet again.... well it had been a whole day since we where in thesaddle so of course it was time....
